Ottawa Renovation Contractors Team

The Sandy Hill Construction team values high quality, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction above all else.

Open and effective communication is of the utmost importance, and we are so proud of the dedicated team of professionals at Sandy Hill Construction. Our team is committed to respecting our clients’ needs, timelines and schedules. To us, success happens when everyone involved in a project feels a sense of ownership and pride throughout every step – from start to finish.

John Wenuk

Owner John Wenuk began his construction career in the 1980s on the lower mainland of B.C., where he worked on residential, multiunit and commercial buildings, before starting his own carpentry business. After moving to Ottawa in 1986, his focus shifted to the repair, maintenance and renovation of heritage buildings in Ottawa’s downtown core. As the demand for his work grew, John started training like-minded carpenters and hiring skilled trade contractors and suppliers to meet his clients’ service needs.

Incorporated in 1995, Sandy Hill Construction has rapidly evolved into one of the most successful design-build firms in the Ottawa area. Most customers are repeat clients who can attest to the excellence and professionalism of John’s unique organization.

Currently, John is responsible for all aspects of the Sandy Hill Construction business, meeting prospective clients, preparing project cost estimates, implementing new technologies, overseeing site management, addressing quality control, as well as health and safety programs.

An active member of the Renovation Council of the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association since 1995, and past co-chair of the Renovation Council, John remains deeply committed to defining and improving renovation standards in the Ottawa region.

John has been a strong supporter of establishing the Renomark (HHP) program in the Ottawa area.
